Our first newletter for 2024- excited to be back. Thanks for coming along.
I read recently that there are over 5 million podcasts in the world -hang with me here- and over 70 million total episodes.
However, 90% of podcasts don't make more than 3 episodes. And only 1% of podcasts make it past 20 episodes.
There’s a big takeaway here: doing something with intentionality and with consistency is rare.
Doing something 1-3 times is easy. Doing it 5 times puts you in the 95th percentile. Doing it every week, or every day, makes you world class.
A year ago, I started writing this little blog, and I promised myself I would publish more than 12 issues. I didn’t put a time limit or following expectation on it, just a simple goal.
This week marks 12 issues, 12 efforts to be a little vulnerable, a lucky dozen of ideas I felt were worth sharing. If you’re still here, I appreciate you more than you know. The most valuable asset any of us have to give is our attention.
This year, my biggest growth edge is to increase my intentionality and my consistency, because I want to be world class. Some of those things, like drinking a gallon of water a day, or creating something new every day, are attainable. Some of them (forgive me for holding close to the chest) are a little bigger. I hope that another year from now I’ll be sharing those.
Either way, I hope you’ll join me in this quest.
Happy 2024. Talk soon-

Starting off every week re-viewing the Ogilvy “How to Write” memo.
I’ve been thinking through absolute favorite images from 2023. Near the top is certainly the Alaia work by Pieter Mulier, the work Deo Suveera and Pamela Lad did for Jil Sander, or everything Lauren Bamford does.
In that same vein, I’ve been thinking about work I’m proud of from this past year. My self-initiated “Personal Affects” series is probably top of list (need to get this one up on the site).
Doing something 5 times to be 95th percentile is wild! Here's to the next 12.
